A New Day for the Anacostia!
by Chris Weiss, Director, DC Environmental Network
Everybody’s Reading the New Report: A New Day for the Anacostia!
Just over 100 people, including District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray, came down to the edge of the Anacostia River to celebrate a new report put out by a local think tank DC Appleseed.
The report consolidates a number of old and new ideas put together by experts into a blueprint for action in the next decade. This report also helps begin redefining how we communicate why it is important to restore the rivers that run through our nation’s capital city.
As an active participant in Anacostia River restoration over the last decade, the DC Environmental Network is excited about the prospect of helping to implement many of the recommendations. We are especially proud of Brooke DeRenzis of DC Appleseed and Linda Howard of the Summit Fund of Washington who worked very hard to put this report together.
We will be holding a DCEN LUNCHEON on the report the first week of June!
